Sometimes, I do manage to get out of the house on cold days. Cold nights even.
Monday night was very cold, but it didn't stop Jaime and I from going to a letter-writing social activity club (PAL-SAC)! I used to write a lot of letters to my friends, but it has been hard to find the time to do it these days. When Jaime mentioned this event, I knew I wanted to go!
It was held at the adorable Naco Gallery Cafe, and they still had their Christmas decorations up (which I loved, because I am a little sad the the holidays are over). I managed to write one letter to my good friend in Norway, and then Jaime and I just chatted the night away.
The next one is on January 24th, and you can pay-what-you-can for really adorable stationary. Writing on good stationary is half the fun of writing letters!
Some of you asked how to make Chai tea from scratch, and Melinda posted a good recipe here!
It is so good!
Hi there, oh it's so nice to receive letters from old friends, and to write to old friends. Nowadays it's only e-mails and if one's lucky enough cards on special occassions. I DO miss it a lot, since I was a fanatic letter writer. Great activity dear :) way to go !!!
ReplyDeleteYour photos make me wanna run out and get a set of those letter printing blocks right now! I love the idea of snail mails, I guess it's the fact that someone bothered to get an envelope, stick a stamp on it and make it to the post office for you.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a brilliant idea... I might try to start something like this with my friends!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea :) yay
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute idea! I love those stamps :)
ReplyDeleteA girl after my own heart. I love writing letters and NACO sounds like the perfect place to do it. It's events like those that make me miss Toronto.
ReplyDeletewhat an amazing event! this sounds too cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see this writing club take off. I hope more events like these pop up in an around the city!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great time Celine! I heard about this event recently on the radio and thought it sounded like a super idea. Over the holidays my cousin (who's living in BC) and I agreed to resume writing each other letters, so maybe this event is a good opportunity for it!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I may need to start a get-together like that over here! I quite fancy letter writing myself, but only have the time to write about one person.
ReplyDeleteIt was completely worth the freezing cold walk to Naco! More letter writing soon! xo
ReplyDeleteThis is why I love Toronto. Where else would you find a letter writing club!? I'd love to write more snail mails.
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me! I'm making stationaries right now!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea! I'm such a letter writing junkie. I actually went to an event similar to this in San Fran when I lived there last year. So nice. One cool letter writing site to check out is www.thingsunsaidproject.wordpress.com.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
Hand written letters are so special and rare these days. I love your photos of this awesome-sounding event!

This is such a tremendous art to refresh and reinvent in our society today! Is there anything like this in Vancouver Proper?
ReplyDeleteLetter-writing has always been one of my passion and I mean hand written letters for this matter. But with texts and emails just around, I really regret to say that letter-writing has lost its touch.
