a sewing success
Now that Eloise is starting to notice objects around her, she is starting to play with the soft blocks Juli and I made so long ago. It makes me a little proud!
And during Eloise's naps, I was finally able to finish her ombre cross quilt. I finished hand quilting and binding the quilt before she was born but it took me some time to put her label on. While we had her first name decided well before she was born, her middle name took us some time. Since she is half Chinese and half Korean, we wanted her middle name to be her Chinese/Korean name that would work in both languages. Both Jin's parents and my parents put their heads together and came up with something that sounded beautiful in Chinese and Korean.
For now, we do a lot of tummy time on the quilt! I'm excited to see how she'll use it in the future!
I love it! Did you use a pattern? I would love to make get something like this for my 3-year old, but all the versions I've seen for purchase are pretty pricey. The embroidered message on the back is so precious - what a great keepsake!
ReplyDeleteHi Megan, are you looking for a patter for the soft blocks? Because I got it here: http://zaaberry.blogspot.ca/2011/02/baby-soft-block-with-ribbon-tutorial.html
Deleteso beautiful - the name and the fabric and the blanket! fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea Eloise is half chinese! I was thinking, "Hmm Shi Xian, that's Chinese... right? I'm Chinese, I should know that." I really love that you signed off on the label, it's gonna mean the world to her when she grows up to be a young woman.
ReplyDeletethe most perfect everything!
ReplyDeleteI love those blocks! These are a perfect gift to make for my little boy due in January. It was a lot easier to think of handmade gifts for my girl than it is for this boy, but blocks will be a hit and appropriate for him, I think!
