Some images from our time in New York last week. We spent all our time having picnics in New York's amazing parks, eating good food and wandering the streets. We also met up with some friends because they happen to be in New York the same time we were! It is always lovely to see familiar faces in another city!

While in New York, Ellie became a lot more active. She suddenly became obsessed with pushing the stroller instead of sitting in it! Exploring the apartment we stayed in, walking around the parks (with assistance), meeting new people and going on adventures really tuckered her out by the end of each day.

The main reason we went to New York was for Jin to ride in the 5 boro bike tour with some friends. Naturally, Ellie and I tagged along for the trip! When Ellie gets a little older, I hope to bring her along one year and join Jin on the bike tour, it seemed like a lot of fun!

(I made Jin pose as if he conquered New York after he came back from the ride!)

Until next time New York...!

Funny enough, we spent the last day of our trip away from Manhattan. Jin lightly mentioned that he wanted to go to Coney Island and as the trip went on, that "mention" came back again and again. He finally wore me down and we drove there on our last day. We couldn't have picked a better day to go. I was originally worried about the heat but when we arrived, it was breezy and the temperature was perfect.

We had lunch at Totonno's Pizzeria Napolitana and their pizza was simple and perfect. We spent a few hours at the fair and on the boardwalk where some people were dancing to music on one end and others were fishing on the dock. We had so much fun walking around that we forgot to ride the Wonder Wheel!

This turned out to be one of my favourite days on our trip. I learned my lesson, I will always listen to Jinny's suggestions from now on.

We ended the day in Brooklyn where we had a delicious meal at Five Leaves (we had their Rosewater Pavlova for dessert. Delicious!).

And the next day, we were off. Bye bye for now New York.

Decisions, decisions

The Meatball Shop

Every day in New York, we tried to eat somewhere delicious and there is no shortage of great places to eat in this city, the tough part was choosing which one to go to that day. This was at The Meatball Shop which really hit the spot after walking all day and I loved the restaurant decor.

Here are some other places we really enjoyed on our trip, most of them were recommended to us by Gabe and May, our go-to food advisers!

The Standard Grill
Miss Lily's
Five Leaves
SMORGASBURG!
the lobster roll at The Plaza's Food Hall

The High Line

The last time we visited New York, The High Line was just in its proposal phase and we saw a lot of pretty renderings of it.

It was really great to see it in person this visit and Jin loved it so much, we went back twice (also mommy and baby were melting from the heat the first time we went so we didn't make it to the end). I hope the next time we go to New York, the High Line will be even bigger! This was Jin's favourite part of the trip, he wishes something like this could happen in Toronto (maybe one day).

While in New York, it was really hot. Thank goodness for all the cold treats and popsicles being sold on the street. We ate so many, we joked that we were on a popsicle diet.

Now, back in Toronto at least, the days have cooled off significantly. It feels like the end of summer already.
