Nikole had a sweet idea to make chocolate chip cookies with Eloise, something I have not had the extra hands or courage to try with her myself. I was really excited because having Nikole bake with Eloise gave me the rare chance to sit back and watch her learn something new.

They were making Tara O'Brady's Basic, Great Chocolate Chip Cookies from her new book Seven Spoons, but Nikole swapped out the chocolate with Smarties, which Eloise approved of wholeheartedly! She sampled the Smarties throughout the whole baking process, of course.

The results were spectacularly delicious! So much so, that it was celebrated with ice cream, sprinkles and sparklers!

Baking is one of those things I don't do much of but I have been looking for a good chocolate chip cookie recipe, having one on hand is a must I think. I definitely have one now, thanks to Tara's book! And watching Nikole bake with Ellie, it looked like so much fun, she may have given me the courage to bake with her myself.

hoping for spring

spring in a box

If I eat like it is warm outside, spring will come faster right?

It has been a cold and harsh winter, the snow storms were fun at first but it has overstayed its welcome. It is March now and I think winter should collect its things and go.

Those of you who live in milder climates, I am so jealous of you right now.

I got this spring in a box of a salad from the ladies at The Goods. So good.

What an incredible way to kick off summer! On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, The Stop held their second annual Night Market where Toronto's chefs, food vendors and artists donated their time and resources for an amazing cause. The vendors served hungry Torontonians from food carts that were designed and built by artists, so every cart was uniquely different.

The tickets sold for $50. All you can eat gourmet street food made by Toronto's finest chefs, and all you can drink. The best part is, the ticket sales go towards The Stops food programs. This year they raised $115,000!!

Gabe, Titus, May and I were asked to photograph the event and I left with a lot of photos and a really happy tummy. (Jin was able to come on the second night to celebrate his birthday!)

Some other exciting news that happened this week, Robber launched their SS13 BFF Lookbook. They had Arden Wray photograph real friends modelling their summer line of clothing. Super fun!! Melinda and I participated and I loved how all the photos turned out! All the girls look babelicious!

dim sum!

dim sum!

I am part of a group of friends who are willing to venture north, past the city boundaries in search for delicious dim sum very early on Sunday mornings. This group is made up of people I met through photographing weddings! I feel so lucky that some couples I work with and their wedding guests become life long friends! This is why I love what I do! Plus, finding fun people to eat with seems like a side goal in my life.

This past Sunday we had our second "meeting". The result was delicious!

(Dawn Instagrammed an adorable photo of Eloise from across the table! The youngest member of the club.)

Funny enough, we spent the last day of our trip away from Manhattan. Jin lightly mentioned that he wanted to go to Coney Island and as the trip went on, that "mention" came back again and again. He finally wore me down and we drove there on our last day. We couldn't have picked a better day to go. I was originally worried about the heat but when we arrived, it was breezy and the temperature was perfect.

We had lunch at Totonno's Pizzeria Napolitana and their pizza was simple and perfect. We spent a few hours at the fair and on the boardwalk where some people were dancing to music on one end and others were fishing on the dock. We had so much fun walking around that we forgot to ride the Wonder Wheel!

This turned out to be one of my favourite days on our trip. I learned my lesson, I will always listen to Jinny's suggestions from now on.

We ended the day in Brooklyn where we had a delicious meal at Five Leaves (we had their Rosewater Pavlova for dessert. Delicious!).

And the next day, we were off. Bye bye for now New York.
