New Work for Boundless Style by Kristiann Boos

I am pretty excited to finally share this with you! The incredibly talented Kristiann Boos has officially launched her first book, Boundless Style, a sewing workbook that enables you to make customized dresses by mixing and matching its major components. And lucky me, Kristiann asked me to photograph the editorial for this book!

These were all photographed over two days in the most magical place in the city, the Toronto Islands. It was an intense retreat with an incredible team and it is so rewarding to see it all come together in this beautiful and inspirational book. If you love to sew, you have to get this book.

These are a few of my favourite shots, from the book, on set, and some goofiness behind the scenes. Thank you Kristiann, for bringing us along on this incredible adventure!

We are in the process of making some fun things for Eloise's birthday party coming up in a few weeks. I am hoping Eloise will stay still to take a photo with her name too. Toddlers are so fast, but I can make a newborn take any photo.

Spring is finally here and I am looking forward to more colourful days outside in the park. Colourful crafts will tide us over until then!

We hung her paintings to dry on the fridge and I cut them up and stuffed them in envelopes with some treats.

I never really paid much attention to Valenteines Day but it sure is a whole other level of fun with kids!

Another point I would like to follow this year is to try to carve out some time to make more things. It is only January but 2014 is shaping up to be an exciting year with a lot of really exciting shoots coming up! Making time to do some creative work for myself will give my mind some momentary refreshers during the really hectic times.

Jane shared this post on facebook over the holidays and everything Renate Hiller said about working with your hands really resonated with me. It lit a fire in me to finally make use of all the leftover fabric I used for bunting flags from our wedding 5 years ago. I remembered that this was one of the main reasons I wanted to learn how to make a quilt in the first place, so I could use up these flags!

This will be the biggest quilt I have ever made (big enough to actually cover 2 adults!). I am aiming to finish it by our 6th anniversary in September! Wish me luck!

A present for Eloise

We have been shown so much love ever since Eloise came into our lives and when Christmas came, she received some beautiful and thoughtful gifts. This gift in particular is very special to me.

Rosalyn made this sweet play mat for Eloise with a community of houses appliqued onto it. I love the design and the details she put into it (look at the patterns on the roofs!). I can only imagine how much love and heart went into this, I was in shock when we opened this gift.

Because to me, quilts equal love

handmade equals love, and we love you Roz.

Thank you so much Roz! Eloise is so lucky. We are taking this upstairs, downstairs and to the park with us.
