mea loves...

the wing

the galaxy

What a difference it makes to have sentiments hanging on your walls. It completes a room. We finally got around to hanging some things up in our study.

An
ORK poster of our Toronto town. I love how they crammed all our many tiny (and distinctive) neighbourhoods into this map. According to them, we live in the neighbourhood of Little Portugal.

I found these vintage Ontario pennant flags with
Rosalyn at the Textile Museum yardage sale! My favourite is the little Charlottetown flag (for the capital city of our smallest province in Canada).

We finally framed some of our wedding photos! Our beautiful wedding photos were taken by
Gabe, and my brother snapped the photo at the top of Jin and I at our wedding.

A golden wing, just because it is beautiful (approved by Mea).

And, the galaxy.

There are still a lot of unpainted walls in our house. I am planning to paint them in the fall/winter. I am already collecting a pile of things to complete those walls.

our weekend find

green pepper

a pepper

insides

A dutch oven in the shape of a pepper.
A green pepper!

We found this Le Creuset pot this weekend for such a great deal, we couldn't pass it up. It is so cute, I just had to show you!

Also, it makes me giggle at the stove when I use it. I made pasta sauce in it, and served it in the pepper too. I was giggling throughout our dinner. Just ask Jin.

The inside is also shaped like the pepper, and I love how they shaped the handle at the top!

The olympics are over, and Canada won gold for hockey!!! People were so happy, they were hugging in intersections!

How cute is that?

Yaaay Canada!

a haikukie

a haikukie

haiku!

I found my first ever haikukie.

It reads.

WHITE SQURREL
i don't believe you!
albino squirrel? i never!
sounds crazy to me!

I did not create this haiku, nor did I create this cookie. But this haikukie looks delicious.
I hope they make more haikukies.

have you seen the white squrrel? He lives in the park.

Nikole and I saw him, one glorious fall day. On the same day she took this photo.
Everyone wanted a photo of him!

house numbers

888

fourty two

seventeen

I have an aunt and uncle that bought a house because it had a good number.

It was the number "8". "8" means fortune in chinese, so whoever lives at "888" has fortune x 3!

"42" is not a good number, from what I understand, it can be interpreted as "easy to die". The number "4" is death, and "2" is easy.

"17" doesn't mean anything (I don't think it does anyways!). I just love how perfectly it is carved out of the fence. I think it would be really elegant if it was backlit at night. Jin loves house numbers that light up. It is easy to find.

I don't really believe that house numbers determines your fate, but part of me wishes I had an eight.

do certain numbers mean anything in your culture?

in the olden days...

old nails

...they assembled houses with nails like this.

They are substantial in weight, and they make clinking noises when I toss them in my hand.

I picture myself trying to hammer this into a piece of wood, and I chuckle. I think I would struggle a bit,

or a lot.

They don't make nails like this anymore.

I really like them.

powerful!

masher

shephers pie

exaggerated bite

I feel so alive!

I made our first home cooked meal today in our new home. Yesterday, our contractor connected our stove, and today, we scrounged and looked for the essentials to make shepherds pie!
This potato masher came with the house, it works surprisingly well.

We haven't had a home cooked meal in a whole month! It will be so good to have a full working kitchen again.

Fall

fallen

I was walking up my street, meeting some friends to eat what I did not know at the time would be one of the best portuguese chicken places I have ever been to,

and I saw this, fallen on the ground.

I thought it was so pretty.

housewares for our home

one for me,

found

pretty plate

lamp

Jin was out of town last week, so my first insinct was to do some shopping. I found some kitty plates at One's in Vaughan Mills, one for Jin and I, and one for each of our kitties! I also found an amazing skirt at Holt Renfrew Last Call, but I have to fix the hem, and I have no idea what to wear on top. Maybe I can show you one day.

I found some flowery plates on my street, about to be thrown out. It reminded me of the vintage plates
Lena Corwin collected for her beautiful wedding. Hers were so beautiful!

I found the sweet blue flowered plate and the white lamp at Value Village. I love them both very much.

How was your weekend?
