I spent some time yesterday moving plants around and ripping out GIANT cosmos from the ground (they grew taller than me. Jin, my neighbours and I, were scared). They did not turn out as I had envisioned.
I didn't plant bulbs last fall, so I am eager to try them out this year. I have some tulips, some narcissus(they are tiny daffodils!) and some snow crocus.
I think I should visit the garden at St. James Cathedral throughout the season to take down notes on which flowers bloom at different times of the year. Also, I should just go to have picnics there, because it is such a lovely garden. Who wants to join me?
Look at this, isn't it beautiful? I would love one for my home.
I get to stay at home today because it is a long weekend in Canada. It is so gloriously hot outside, and I am thoroughly enjoying it! We haven't had too many hot summer days this season, so I am soaking it up! My entire body hurts from working on a wedding with Gabe yesterday. Planting some Mums for our planter is a slow-paced activity I can handle! We had Mums at our wedding last year, and I was surprised that Jinny remembered when I brought them home! My man really loves his flowers.Hope you had a great weekend!

I notice that I mainly take film photos when I am on holiday. So either, I only carry my film camera in the city, or go on more holidays. I will take a little of #1, and a lot of #2 please.
When we came back, I was happy to see that our garden was thriving, and our tomato plants were producing so many blooms! I am getting especially excited, because one of the tomatoes is turning finally RED! This is my first year growing vegetables, so you can imagine my excitement!
But I have a little forest of mushrooms growing under the tomatoes. They only live for a day, but new ones always come up! They are cute, but, how did they get there? And do tiny smirfs live among them?
Thank you Hiki for giving me a "lovely blog award". I love reading her blog, so full of inspiration and beautiful photos. She also started a little store full of goodies! I am eyeing some things for myself already!
It has been a cold kind of rainy today, so I had to take out some extra layers in the closet to keep warm. It doesn't seem like June. To me, June has always been bright and sunny, and the happy month my brother and I are born in, (and also the month Jin is born in too!) My eyes are looking for bright spots to keep me warm. Mostly I am noticing whites. I guess white isn't really a warm colour, but on this grey day, it is exactly what I need. And, a punch of bright pink and green.
Mea are you trying to sneak out the front door, again?

I told Jin I want to paint our backyard fence, white. What do you think?
Jin and I spent the entire long weekend rearranging our "outdoor room" by putting in some stepping stones, new paths and paving, ripping out weeds, and planting the small variety of plants and flowers I bought. I found an old photo I took of our backyard, I think it was the day after a party we had. It feels like an entirely different space to me. When we first moved into our apartment, our backyard was a mess. It was a small piece of land with really tall weeds that would sprout out every summer. And, it was home to an old, broken stove. I had no idea how to handle it, and at the time, I was too busy getting through my undergraduate degree. Once I graduated, I convinced Jin and our landlady that the backyard needed to be inhabited like an outdoor extension to the house (which is not what we were using it for!). So I proposed a patio, and a cleanup. I enlisted the help of my good friend, and we were pretty confident to build a patio, being architecture grads and all, but it still took us 2 weeks from start to finish! I guess drawing isn't anything like construction!
We still need a little more cleanup, and it still looks pretty bare, with little baby plants and shrubs, but I like it so much better than when we first moved in!
We had a little taste of spring last week, but today it is cold again. But I can still feel the change in the air, and I know that spring is coming soon.
This makes me itch to plant something. This year, I am hoping to attempt to make a wood planter box. With any luck, it will hopefully be made with wood that I find on the street. I am going to try to grow some vegetables from seeds, which will be tough, as I have not had much success growing ANYTHING from seeds before!
For now, I just made a terrarium out of some moss I bought at Seedy Saturday, an annual event of all things plantatious and seeds! I do not know where else to get moss though, whether to buy, or....in nature? Can you kindly point me anywhere?
I made one small terrarium in a mason jar, and I want to make another one in a larger container. I bought a new friend to go in my future terrarium, because my old friends are missing in action. Jin dropped the bunny and now it has no ears, and Mojo swiped the piggy, and I cannot find it. The boys in this house are trouble!

Look at these beautiful terrariums from etsy seller Made by Mavis. I love how simple they all are, and how she made the different pieces of moss looking like rolling hills of Scotland, or so I imagine.
